The Cohen’s have truly settled in St Ives with an eye to the future

Rabbi Barak and Rachel Cohen joined the Ohr HaTzafon community in September of 2013 after spending five years in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada as the Rabbi of Congregation Aish HaTorah.

Rabbi Cohen spent ten years in Yerushalayim studying at a number of different yeshivos and kollelim, culminating with receiving his semicha from Rav Moshe Sternbuch.  Rabbi Cohen also holds a Bachelors of Science degree in the field of Behavioral Science with a focus on counseling practices.

The Cohen’s have truly settled in St Ives with an eye to the future.  The Rabbi has founded the groundbreaking Torah Stream at Masada College which gives the observant community a quality Torah education here on the North Shore and creates the framework from which we hope to build our community.  Both Rabbi and Rabbetzin Cohen have established classes for men and women, and are hard at work building the community from within, one class, one meal, and one conversation at a time.

The Cohen’s have two beautiful children, Eliana and Shai, and enjoy spending time together touring and exploring their new home down under.
